Second Lockdown: The doors were closed once again in November and we wait until 2nd December to see what the Government

propose next to keep us save from Covid 19.  Members of the club will have seen the AGM correspondence via email

and snail mail. It was important for our members to know what has happened during the year together with sight of the

Balance sheet.  The exercise classes run independently in the club house will not resume until after Xmas if allowed to do so.

Further updates will be reported when information is available.

As the Covid summer of 2020 draws to a close our green has been 'put to bed' by the contractor and he will be looking after it during the winter months. The hedges are trimmed and the gardens pruned, it all looks very neat and tidy but oh so quiet.

The Committee have ensured the correct Covid 19 regulations are enforced and members had the opportunity to sign up for 'carpet bowls' .  Sufficient interest was shown to enable two teams of 6 on two carpets to take part on Friday afternoons.  Unfortunately no spectators are allowed as this would affect the numbers. All the bowlers are masked, windows are open. We are at the mercy of government during this pandemic and should the law change so might we. However meanwhile we carry on.

Please do not just turn up as you will be turned away if you are not booked in to play.

The plans we had to celebrate our 75th year were unable to take place but Bowls England, Bowls Leicestershire and Friends of Bowls all plan to come in 2021 to help us celebrate a little late. Subject again to the current situation.

The AGM will be held by email and snail mail to enable our members to have a say on the way forward in 2021 and to approve or otherwise the arrangements suggested by the Committee.

Our grateful thanks to all the members who have stood by the club in these difficult times and helped us to be sure that Market Overton Bowls Club stands proud in the community. We have been appreciative of comments by passers by and local residents who have been pleased to see the bowlers on the green in the summer striving to keep some normality in these far from normal times.

Keep safe - keep well - keep your distance
